By Umer Kayani on Aug 10, 2009
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday launched a crackdown against people selling mobile phone jammers in Lahore. Two places along Hall Road were raided and the officers managed to arrest three individuals and seized 8 jammers as well as other sophisticated items.
Reports indicate that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) deems illegal jamming as having reached alarming rates especially in the city of Lahore and other major cities in the country thus requesting action from the authorities. Dependable sources have told Aaj Kal that the intensive crackdown operations were initiated after there were reports that terrorists were using jammers which pose a great danger to the overall national security.
