Social Networking Websites – Good or Bad?
Thu, Aug 6, 2009
You must be on at least one social networking website. These are the community websites who promise to connect you to the whole world. You can find people from every corner of the world. They can chat, share their pictures, videos. They can comment on each other status. In short you can be in touch with any one around the globe any time. But the question is, is it Good or Bad? Well I have my opinion. To me it’s good to some extent and bad to other extent.
Goods:
- It’s good as you can be connected to the whole world and you can chat and share your stuff very easily with the other people.
- It’s good as you get connected to some of your lost friends.
Bads:
- The new generation is crazy about Social Networking Websites, they leave their studies just to make new friends and chat with them.
- They spent their half time in front of computers leaving many important things behind.
- On Social Networking Websites we can see some immoral and unethical pictures and that’s too bad.
Unless the use of time is proper, it’s good. As it is rightly said Excess of any thing is bad. So these are good unless they are being used for good purpose.

Thanks for the article, i think you touched all the topics which make and break social networking sites, i believe in social networking sites in they’re core, when they do what they’re suppose to do, create networks between people, Facebook is amazing for example on connecting you, making yourself associated with a cause has never been so easy, but i think its being worn down and degraded with the site becoming a arcade of a sort, sure quizzes are nice and cute once in a while, but i think facebook fails to serve its main goal because of these factors.
sure, facebook became a giant with the help of these elements of the site, but at what cost?, kids staying on the computer all day playing/chatting about facebook itself because they’re not doing anything anymore, so they’re to say, trapped in a loop, you go to facebook for the sole purpose of “being” on facebook, not anything specific, but someone might send me a quiz! someone might poke me! someone might upload a picture of me so ill have to tag myself!, i think it defeated it’s purpose when it became that.
Now sites like linkedIn i have a better view on, its a place that connects people for a purpose, its a Big yellow book of everything i guess, Digg is nice too, sort of a monitor of Internet trends and ripples, a looking glass into a day of the Internet, eh?.
Thanks for the post, i liked it
