Shahid khan Afridi left international cricket due some dispute with cricket board. This dispute begins from Waqar and Afridi over selection issues, which blew up after the latter’s return from the West Indies.
Though Afridi didn’t take names but he was clearly referring to Waqar. Based on team manager Intikhab Alam’s reports, which blamed Afridi for the whole mess in the Caribbean, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ejaz Butt sacked Afridi as one-day captain for the series against Ireland while retaining him in the side as a player.
But Afridi withdrew from the series, saying that he was with his ailing father in the United States. Afridi, on Tuesday, has retired from all forms of international cricket.And he said clearly that he will not play until Ejaz Butt is the Chairman of pakistan cricket board.
This is not happening first time in Ejaz butt tenure. First victim was shoaib Malik and then many other player named for captaincy and just left their job after few months due to some issue with cricket board . This all is happening due to one man show in Pakistan cricket board. Ejaz Butt was appointed chairman by President Asif Zardari in October, 2008 and since than his tenure has been plagued with controversies and scandals and he has been the target of some scathing criticism by the media . Butt the former Test player has survived, despite all these controversies which hit Pakistan cricket, including the spot-fixing scandal and attack on the Sri Lankan team. He sacked Afridi or the sidelining of seniors like Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Danish Kaneria, Younis Khan and Muhammad Yousuf. Despite all he is still Chairman and am sure he will ruin pakistan cricket if any left. There is no chances of his sacking and it seems that he will complete his three-year tenure as board chairman ends in October this year.
The PCB take serious action and suspended Afridi’s central contract with immediate effect and has stopped all the pending payments on account of his central contract.
The PCB media release states that action was initiated on the basis of following breaches.
1. By announcing his retirement in the manner that he did, Shahid Afridi is in breach of Clause 2.1.4 of the Central Contract dealing with Covenants of the Cricketer.
2. In passing disparaging remarks about the board and its officials Shahid Afridi is in breach of Clause 4.4 dealing with Media obligations.
The media release also separately states about the action that has been taken against the veteran all-rounder.
1. A show cause notice has been issued to him seeking his explanation on these comments. Afridi has been asked to respond to the letter within 7 days of receipt of the same.
2. His Central Contract has been suspended with immediate effect. Consequently, all NOCs granted to him have been revoked.
3. All payments on account of Central Contract have been suspended.
