Ali Razzouk, 17, and Abdullah Khan, 18, announce their new service today after more than two months of intensive testing in a private beta with 420 people.
“I’ve been using Facebook and Twitter for a long time, and I have things that I like and dislike about both. Facebook’s privacy issues drive me crazy. On Twitter, the discussions are a mess, and 140 characters are just not enough for me to express myself most of the time. So we decided to combine the two models and came up with a whole new experience”, says Ali.
Facebook is a walled garden. Interaction is, for most of the time, limited to a user’s friends. On Twitter, discussions are fragmented and scattered all over the user’s timeline (even within the tweet view, the format is not very user-friendly).
Scapehouse also attempts to tackle the discussion shortcomings found in email and on forums today. You have people quoting text from different posts and conversations. The result is this jumbled blob of text that average readers have a hard time reading.
“Scapehouse allows you to have personal discussions with your friends, and at the same time, public discussions with the other people in your life, all without compromising your privacy”, says Abdullah.
