Mobile data is very important for a user. The worst does not happen when a user has to transfer all the data from an old mobile device to a new one bought, but when the one in use gets stolen. All the essential mobile data is lost and becomes unrecoverable. The private content and personal details that then spills out may become dangerous is a thief decides to make use of the available data.
There are however, services available which mobile users can opt for in order to wipe out their essential data they never want any other soul to know about. There have been cases when mobile data of an important government official is lost or that of someone involved with other important information that might impact a number of people or even more. For example, there could even be company information that should be kept private and confidential but gets out due to such unfortunate mobile date loss.
To handle this situation facing the tech world, mobile computing researchers at Virginia Tech are working to solve the problem. They have come up with a way to wipe out sensitive information from Android devices based on person’s location. Now, this breakthrough is an important one in protecting people’s privacy and in security of mobile devices. The number of cyber-crimes has increased over the past few years and not just the laws would prevent bad things from happening, but only technology can beat technology.
