Do you want Facebook to hold back your personal data? Have you ever wondered where is your deleted messages, posts, links, photos and in short all of your activity on Facebook saved in and what happens to all this data? Even if you delete something on Facebook, the social network still has a means to retain that data. It just does not show you that deleted piece of information back, but clings onto it itself.

Recently, Facebook has faced a possible fine of $138,000 in Ireland and was being audited. The reason is only because it held back data that the users have deleted in the secure knowledge that it will never come to haunt them back. After all, why does one delete something on Facebook? If a user is not interested in his data, then why is Facebook interested. This whole thing by Facebook does really raises a lot of questions.

The case came in front when a law student from Austria asked Facebook to send him a copy of all his personal data. Facebook sent him a CD that had 1,200 pages of data that included likes, “friends” and “unfriends” history along with all the chat logs. But the user got astonished when he got back the data that he had deleted from his profile, yet Facebook must have kept it saved to have sent him back. Such a thing where personal information is being held in this manner by the largest social network is not only offensive to majority of the users, but it is criminal.
