The Brazilian delegation based on four members from Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) has visited the National Agricultural Research Centre where at Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (NARC) they were briefed about the agricultural research being carried out for Pakistan at the centre. The delegation also visited Animal Sciences Institute, Plant Genetic Resources Institute, Honey Bee, Horticulture, Grain Quality Testing Laboratory and Tissue Culture Laboratory.

The Brazilian delegates appreciated the latest facilities being used at the Centre for the development of agriculture. The visit was for two-days to check on what is the level of development that exists in Pakistan regarding agriculture and what could be done more to improve it further for better agricultural production. NARC and ABC has finalized areas of cooperation after reviewing the present facilities to enhance their standards. Both can share their expertise in agricultural research and development.

There have been areas that were identified to make this possible between the two states, but not much work has been done in those areas. As a result, both the governments will sing the general agreement for technical cooperation, and later specific agreements could be signed in other fields. The mutual areas of cooperation are exchange of germplasm of sugarcane, cotton, corn, soybean, fruits, tea and vegetables. Brazil wants a formal request to follow up on cooperation in these areas. Now, if the Pakistani government does the formal follow-up of sending the request and opening the way, then this will be a new chapter in relations between Brazil and Pakistan.
