Pakistan is now taking its energy developmental phase into the wind turbine technology. Nordex has been signed by Pakistan by supply four companies with its N100/2500 wind turbines which will total to 250 MW. The final decision still lies with the authorities for their funding for the project to get the go-ahead. The wind turbine contracts are expected to cover five wind farm projects of 20 turbines each that will generate 250 MW for the Pakistani grid.
Pakistan is amongst those important Asian countries for the market outside China for Nordex. Hence, the country holds better potential for good business growth for the supplier. This will attract other suppliers too giving boom to the market sector here in Pakistan. According to the government estimates, the wind power potential in Sindh Province alone is that of around 11GW. Thus, this area is the first place where wind turbines are planned for installation. The rest of the parts of the country will follow soon, if the first one goes according to plans.
The shipment of the turbines will arrive next month. Two of the wind power projects are to be started in 2012 that will give boost to the energy sector in Pakistan producing around 150 GWh annually. The four companies are Fauji Foundation, Gul Ahmed Window Power Ltd, Metro Power Company Ltd and Yunus Energy Ltd. The construction on the wind farms is scheduled to begin in 2012 and 2013. With the success of such projects, the country progress will get a stronghold.
