Recently the Director of Utilities Industries for Asia Pacific and Japan Philip Vaughan from Software Applications and Products (SAP) has said that it plans to facilitate public utilities to face challenges in a better way through automation and process enablement. This will also help the business grow. He said so while speaking at a conference arranged on business transformation in the utilities sector.

SAP has been assisting companies and industries to function efficiently with its enterprise application software. According to SAP’s claim, about half of the utilities globally are using SAP software and two-third of the total billing is also done through SAP. SAP basically provides software to electricity generation and distribution companies internationally.

Karachi Electric Supply Company uses SAP’s services to fulfill its utilities billing needs. There is a lot of space for the utilities sector to grow in Pakistan and companies like SAP are making the most out of this opportunity. SAP is helping to minimise the cost of utilities and improve KESC’s business management, something that it is need of for a long time now. Besides this, SAP is also helping to make it more efficient in spreading its supply chains across the city and other areas to make it a better network.

Let us hope that not only the electricity supply chains improve for better electricity supply but that appropriate costs are also ascertained rather than that which is out of question. The electricity bills are high despite that electricity shortages occur many times during a day.
