In many developing countries, like Pakistan, people still die due to an inadequate supply of blood and blood products. Pakistan has a population of more than 180 million people, but only 1.5 million pints of blood are donated each year. A reliable supply of safe blood is essential for improving the chances of survival of those involved in accidents or serious ailments.
On May 10th, 2012, Mobilinkers decided to play their part in helping lessen this resource gap by organizing the largest ever Employee Blood Donation Drive in the history of the company. In one day, Mobilinkers from ten cities across Pakistan donated blood at camps organized in partnership with Fatmid Foundation and Sundas Foundation.
The theme for the donation drive which is a build up to World Blood Donor Day 2012 (June 14th) was, “Every Blood Donor is a Hero.” 469 employees donated blood in this initiative and proved that they are real superheroes who have the ability to save lives. Given that one blood donation can save upto 3 lives, Mobilink’s heroes have potentially helped save over 1400 lives!
