Now a days every one wants a dual SIM phone and with more features. There are so many low end dual SIM phone are available in the market. But when it comes to Android there only few of them yet available in Pakistan.

Nokia & Djuice Partnered to Enhance Pakistani Developers

With a vision to cater to the lower segment of the market, Nokia Pakistan and Djuice have joined hands to start a series of Developer Workshops that aim to provide training focused on S40 devices. The first workshop in this chain was held at Telenor regional office where Tony Torp, Nokia External Trainer shared the details of development tools available to develop mobile apps for S40 devices and gave hands-on training to the participants.

Giving his views on the workshop, Tony Torp said, “Yet again it was wonderful to interact with the enthusiastic developers of Karachi, shared with them the S40 background and provide hands-on training on the tools available to work on mobile apps for S40 platform. The developers clearly understood why it will be beneficial for them and their community to contribute towards content development and they all took keen interest in the workshop.”

Expressing her views, Rabia Azfar Nizami, Business Development Manager EDX, Near East, NOKIA said, “I appreciate the interest level of Karachi’s developer community to learn and excel in their chosen field. Nokia has been organizing these kinds of workshops for developers in Pakistan for the past 1 year. As part of the chain that Nokia has initiated in Pakistan to provide new opportunities to the local developers, this time around Nokia partnered with Telenor to offer training for S40 platform. The workshop was geared towards channelizing the strengths of local developers and providing them a rich bundle of resources to develop more locally relevant mobile apps for S40 devices which are most popular among the masses in our country.”

Talking about the partnership, Usman Javed, Director Marketing, Telenor Pakistan said, “Djuice is delighted to partner with Nokia to start offering these developer workshops. It is the first time that such a forum has been made available to students & faculty and we are receiving tremendous response from participants. Djuice supports initiatives that build young talent. Djuice Apportunity is one such initiative where we provide publishing, promotion & monetization support for applications developed by students & independent developers.”

At the workshop’s conclusion, certificates were distributed among all the participating developers. Events of this nature are pertinent to take the local IT/Telecom industry to the next level and enable better mobility experience for end consumers especially in countries like Pakistan where majority of people use S40 mobile phones.

Samsung Wave smartphones upgraded to the bada 2.0

Nokia X2-02 – Dual SIM With 2 MP Camera

Nokia announced it’s new dual SIM phone, Nokia X2-02 with some new features. The Nokia X2-02 is the third variation of original Nokia X2 and other was Nokia X2-05. The Nokia x2-02 is the dual SIM phone and supports both SIM at the same time. Its come up with dual band GSm device and supports both GPRS and EDGE data.

The screen resolution are 2.2″ 240 x 320 pixel TFT display, and at the back 2 megapixel camera. The X2-02 also has an MP3 player, Bluetooth 2.1, has a micro SD slot and an FM radio. And the good news is that the FM antenna is integrated into the case and you don’t need to plug in the headphones.

Samsung Pleads Ban on iPhone4S Sales in Japan & Australia

Samsung Electronics today filed preliminary injunction motions in the Tokyo District Court, Japan and in the New South WalesRegistry, Australia requesting the courts to stop the sale of Apple’s iPhone4S in the respective countries.

In a separate filing, Samsung has appealed the Australian court’s decision on October 13 to grant a preliminary injunction over the Galaxy Tab 10.1. In Japan, Samsung is also seeking an injunction order to immediately bar the sale of iPhone4 and iPad2, which seriously violate Samsung’s intellectual property.

Samsung’s preliminary injunction request in Australia cites three patent infringements related to wireless telecommunications standards, specifically Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) and HSPA. In light of these violations, Samsung believes the sale of such Apple devices should be banned.

The Patent claims in Japan include;

1- One “High Speed Packet Access” (HSPA) patent which relates to a method for deciding amount of power consumption during data transmission.

2- Three user interface patents, essential for displaying information on screen, specifically UIs for the “in flight mode” indicator (airplane icon); for customizing a smartphone’s home screen; & for browsing applications categorized in a tree structure (in an apps store).

The Patent claims in Australia include;

1. Method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving packet data using pre-defined length indicator in a mobile communication system (WCDMA)

2. Method and apparatus for data transmission in a mobile telecommunication system supporting enhanced uplink service (HSPA)

3. Method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving data with high reliability in a mobile communication system supporting packet data transmission (HSPA)

Samsung Becomes the World’s Biggest Smartphone Seller

You would think that Apple is the biggest brand that sells smartphones, but in reality it has an image of being such. The fact is that Samsung is now the world’s biggest smartphone seller. The sales through Galaxy smartphones have made it earn this place. The Android-operated Galaxy S II handset is highly successful more than Apple’s newest iPhone.

Samsung is a Korean company which has received a record profit in its third quarter this year generated alone by the smartphone sales. The data from Strategy Analytics show that Samsung had taken 23.8% of the smartphone market with 27.8 million shipments worldwide. Whereas Apple had 14.6% with 17.1 million shipments and Nokia had 16.8 million sales. Now, these very figures show that the media seem to be crazy about Apple and its products to give it an image of being more successful in the market, while the facts indicate otherwise.

Samsung, which does not go into much publicity in this manner as Apple does, has really proven that it actually is the new leader when it comes to smartphone industry. The only trouble is of its legal battles on patents with Apple, which tries to put Samsung behind in sales by taking legal actions against the company’s tablets and smartphones. However, Apple still maintains that iPhone 4S will win back the position on top soon with its growing number of sales every day. But when it comes to technology, Samsung seems to be more impressive in performance than the rumoured iPhone 4S.

Mobile Virtual Goods Global Revenue Will Be $4.6 Bn by 2016

According to a new report from Juniper Research, the global market for virtual goods will see an increase due to mobile social media services from $3 billion this year to $4.6 billion by 2016. This growth will be due to social gaming boom that mobile phones will see which is very much an on-going phenomenon. The two countries, where people are craziest about mobile social gaming are Japan and China.

The reason for the boost is also because of the large number of smartphones people are switching to from their older mobile devices. But Asia on the whole has not just been proven to be good for mobile social gaming, but for the social media market growth in general.
