Video Games Increase Creativity in Children

Since playing video games is not only fun and addictive for kids, but they also get to have a time off from their regular routine of work from school, a new study is there to support their fun addiction with video games. A lot of parents complain about their kids not getting enough physical exercise as they just tend to sit at one place playing video games, but their brains are actually getting a very healthy flow of blood and imagination. Hence, video gaming is a very healthy mental activity for kids.

Creativity has taken human civilization to many places and video gaming is just one of many ways in which kids can enhance their creative muscles. The research regarding this view has been published in Computers in Human Behavior journal under the Michigan State University’s Children and Technology Project. This creative potential is increased equally in both girls and boys of younger ages. Amongst other technology uses that were put to test, video gaming led all else in generating imaginative capacity the most.

Many a times, for those kids who don’t have video games available at their own homes, they tend to go and share video gaming time at their friend’s or at some local place of gaming arcades. Video games are available a plenty in Pakistan and kids here are as much into video gaming as anywhere else in the world. The only thing which is lacking here is national level video gaming contests which often take place abroad and are now becoming something of an international competing events annually.

Apple Fans Are Religiously Devoted to Its Gadgets

According to an interesting BBC documentary series, Apple triggers the kind of reaction in the brain that is similar to those who are religiously devoted. The BBC documentary series cited neurological research to support this point. The neuroscientists conducted an experiment where they passed a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test on an Apple devotee and found out that the images of the Apple gadgets lit up the same parts of the brain as that a deity does for religious people.

The critics and observers have said that Apple fans do take things to an extreme with their tech mania. There have been reports of people showing their excitement about Apple products with tattoos, bumper stickers and even home shrines. This cult following of Apple has been covered in a documentary called “Macheads”. Such a craze for Apple’s products in fans is testament to the fact that for some people technology and its passion is way beyond normal and borders on extremism.

The question then arises, does excess in technology and its dependency lead people to have some abnormal human behavior especially when it comes to interacting and communicating with other fellow beings. If one starts giving more priority to technological gadgets rather than people around, then it sure does indicate that something is seriously wrong that needs to be corrected. The media is also partly to blame with its intensive advertising of products and convincing people that if they will not have it, then they are missing something big in life.

New Upgrades for iPod Touch and iPod Nano

Most of the news about Apple focused on its new smartphone, the iPhone 5, which actually was not released as rumoured, but instead an iPhone 4S was released. But in the midst of all those news and rumours about the next smartphone, Apple came out with new changes to iPod Nano and iPod Touch.

In the iPod Touch, one of the new change is that it is now available in white version, for those who always wanted to have it in white, can now fulfill their wishes. From October 12, it is supposed to be in markets with Apple’s new iOS 5. The rest of the changes in the iPod Touch is mainly due to the upgrade in iOS 5, especially its iMessage and iCloud.

The prices have also dropped in the international market. If iPod Touch users have a Wi-Fi, they can send unlimited messages, photos, and videos to other iOS 5 devices. In iPod Nano, the home screen icons have changed from being smaller to bigger which are easy to swipe between. Now it comes with 16 different clock faces. Its prices have also dropped in the international market.

Samsung Launches Galaxy Tab 7.7

Samsung Electronics has launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 – the world’s first tablet to feature the brilliant Super AMOLED Plus display. The powerful and most portable device with a 1.4GHz dual core processor measures just 7.89 millimeters thin and weighs only 335 grams (12 ounces).

Samsung Pakistan’s Managing Director Mr. Hee Chang Yee said; “It reflects Samsung’s commitment to offering consumers the most choice in mobile tablets. The Galaxy Tab 7.7’s WXGA Super AMOLED plus display and powerful features are the pillars of our technological supremacy, offering vivid images, crisp sound and brilliant colors experience”.

The stylish metal casing and rounded edges design give a sleek look. The HSPA+ 21 Mbps network enables faster uploads and downloads, supporting Wi-Fi Channel Bonding connection and data transfer at twice the speed. Powered by a 1.4 GHz dual core application processor, it gives seamless multitasking and superior multimedia performance. The 5,100 mAh battery provides up to 10 hours of video playback time.

It is powered by Android™ 3.2 Honeycomb, optimized for a 7-inch tablet with a new compatibility zoom mode, while it also supports MicroSD cards of up to 32 GB for direct media files transfer. iPad 3 Might Release Sometime in 2012, But Not Early

According to a research report from J. P. Morgan’s analyst Mark Moskowitz, the next generation iPad will not be seen in the markets until the next year. Even in 2012, it is not expected to come out early. iPad 3 has been rumoured, like many other tech gadgets from Apple, to be released soon. But it is the very timeline of releasing soon that the whole year passes on and turns into another year without rumoured gadget coming into markets.

This is something that happened with iPhone 5 too. May be it is due to the coming release of iPhone 5 that Apple has delayed putting another of its product in the market for a fear of losing on sales. iPad 3 was expected to be in the markets by the end of 2011. But there are no signs of it arriving according to the research report.

Also according to the Moskowitz, Apple had announced the launch of iPad 2 after 15 months of the first-generation iPad’s release. This means that Apple’s product launch cycle has not been completed yet for iPad 2. Hence, it is safe to say it will arrive well into the next year.

There are also speculations that Apple might release an iPad HD, which is expected not to be very different from the latest iPad 2, instead of iPad 3. But then again, there could be no new tablet from Apple this year. For now it is only the much-awaited iPhone 5.

Apple iPad 2-Thinner, Lighter & Faster

Apple announced ipad 2, which is thinner, lighter, and faster than the original iPad. It’s an elegantly styled device, available in both black and white, which is about the same “footprint” as the iPad from the front, but it is 33% slimmer at just 8.8mm in thickness.The iPad 2 retains the same screen size as the original with a 9.7″ 768 x 1024 pixel display.

The iPad 2 has a much more powerful processor than the original. This time, the tablet has a dual-core 1 GHz ARM-based A5 CPU, which Apple say is twice as fast as the old iPad.On the back is a camera capable of capturing 720p video, although the large size of the iPad 2 does make it quite unwieldy when filming. There’s also a basic VGA resolution camera on the front, which would mostly be used for video calling.The new iPad will come with the newest version of Apple’s mobile operating system iOS 4.3. This update enables better performance while using the Safari Internet browser, iTunes home sharing.

In the US, the iPad 2 is priced about the same as the outgoing iPad, starting at $499 for the base 16GB WiFi-only version and heading up to $829 for the 64GB WiFi + 3G version. US availability is 11th March. The iPad 2 will then be available in most of Europe (with a notable exception of Russia) plus Mexico, Japan, Australia and New Zealand from 25th March with other regions to follow afterwards.
