Etihad Airways Offers Complimentary 96-Hour UAE Visas for Guests

Etihad Airways is offering complimentary 96-hour tourist visas to guests transiting through the UAE, effective immediately. The visas, ideal for travellers making stopover visits en route to their final destination, are being offered in cooperation with Radisson Blu hotel on Yas Island.

The offer is valid for travellers previously eligible for Etihad Airways’ paid-for visa service (available at a cost of AED 300), for Pakistani nationals travelling from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar in any cabin.

Eligible guests must have confirmed overnight accommodation at the Radisson Blu Yas Island, available at promotional rates from USD 70 per person per night.

To book accommodation and apply for a complimentary visa, guests can visit etihad.com/freeuaevisa. A passport copy and passport-sized photograph are required for processing visa applications.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Not only is Abu Dhabi the place where East meets West, making it ideal for transiting to destinations worldwide, but it is also a world-class destination in its own right. With complimentary visa services on offer, more Etihad Airways guests will have the opportunity to experience the signature Arabic hospitality and exciting attractions of the UAE in a convenient and affordable way.”

Guests booking a 3-night stay will also receive a complimentary Abu Dhabi City Tour. Hala Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways’ destination management company, is available to all guests for booking custom itineraries, attractions and tours (halaabudhabi.com).

From Pakistan, Etihad operates 23 weekly flights to Abu Dhabi – with daily flights from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and twice weekly from Peshawar.

Terms and Conditions apply: Approval of applications is at the sole discretion of the UAE Immigration authorities. Hotel rates are USD 70 per person, per night, including breakfast, 24-hour check-in and 96-hour visa. Booking must be made 72 hours in advance and is subject to availability.

Etihad Airways Carries a Record Number of Passengers in 2011

Etihad Airways, carried a record 8.29 million passengers in 2011, a 17 per cent increase on the previous year. The jump represented an extra 1.197 million passengers on the carrier’s global network covering 82 passenger and cargo destinations.

Etihad Airways President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr James Hogan, said. “This result, achieved while much of the world was facing the economic crunch and oil prices remained high, is testament to our emergence as a formidable force in the international aviation arena. Through strategic expansion we launched eight new routes to Bangalore, Maldives, Seychelles, Chengdu, Dusseldorf, Tripoli, Shanghai and Nairobi last year.

Etihad Airways’ busiest route was Bangkok with the airline carrying more than 500,000 passengers to the Thai capital during the year.

This was closely followed by London (479,000), Manila (446,000), and Jeddah (289,000) which represented a staggering 48 per cent increase over 2010.

{Then came Sydney, Frankfurt, Paris, Manchester, Doha and Dublin to complete the list of the 10 most popular routes.]

Etihad Airways currently operates 23 flights a week between Abu Dhabi and four Pakistani cities with daily flights to Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore and two services a week to Peshawar.

Nokia Appoints Arif Shafique as General Manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan

Nokia Pakistan recently announced that Arif Shafique, previously Head of Sales, Nokia Pakistan and Afghanistan has been promoted to the position of General Manager (GM), Nokia Pakistan and Afghanistan. Backed by more than four years of experience with in Nokia Pakistan, coupled with his overall 20 years of work experience, Arif has an in-depth understanding of company’s critical management processes and is one of the few employees to have been associated with the company since its inception in Pakistan.

Schneider Electric wins prestigious Zayed Future Energy Prize

Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management, was recognised, on January 17, at the Zayed Future Energy Prize (ZFEP 2012) in the category of ‘Large Corporations’ for leading efforts in renewable energy and sustainability. General Sheikh Mohamad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, presented the award to Jean-Pascal Tricoire, President and CEO, Schneider Electric.

The fourth edition of the Prize was hosted on the sidelines of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES 2012) at the Emirates Palace Hotel, in Abu Dhabi. ZFEP also rewarded winners in the categories of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) & Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Lifetime Achievement awards for individuals who received a total prize fund of US$4 million which includes a $500,000 prize that will be awarded to High Schools in 2013.

Speaking on the occasion, Jean-Pascal Tricoire said: “We are delighted on winning the ZFEP Award for Large Corporations. This award is a testimony to our commitment to sustainable development and reaffirms that we are moving in the right direction. We hope to continue leading the effort in resolving the global energy challenge with innovative and efficient solutions that curb energy waste, promote clean generation and influence consumption habits that respect and help resuscitate the environment.”

Schneider Electric was recognized for its work on clean-tech projects, which transcended beyond the company’s core business. Such initiatives include BipBop, the company’s pioneering corporate social responsibility (CSR) program that is based on ‘Business, Innovation, and People at the Base of the Pyramid’ and aims to develop access to reliable, affordable and clean energy for poor countries with limited or no access to electricity.

While the company is not subject to CO2 quotas, Schneider Electric publicly reports its CO2 performance through the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Panelists who were unable to attend included actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio, Tennis Grand Slam champion and education advocate Andre Agassi, and Dr Susan Hockfield, President of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Etihad Airways Commences Flights to Tripoli

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, recently operated its maiden flight from Abu Dhabi to Tripoli, the airline’s first new destination of 2012.

The service, which will operate three times a week, is the only direct commercial flight between the UAE and Libya’s capital city. The inaugural flight EY687 departed Abu Dhabi at 07:45am, on 17th January 2012, and touched down at 12:15pm, local time.

On board the two class Airbus A330 were UAE Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs Dr Anwar Gargash, former UAE ambassador to Libya H.E. Saeed Obaid al Kaabi, current ambassador H.E. Sultan Rashid Al Kaytoub and UAE Head of Economic Affairs H.E. Jassim Mohamed Al Qassimi.

From Pakistan, Etihad operates 23 weekly flights to Abu Dhabi – with daily flights from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and twice weekly from Peshawar. From Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways has flights to Tripoli thrice a week on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

Etihad Airways Appoints Area General Manager For Pakistan, Bangladesh And Nepal

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has appointed Amer Khan – its current Country Manager in Pakistan – to the position of Area General Manager for Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.

In his new position, Mr. Khan will be responsible for managing Etihad’s commercial operations across these three countries from his base in Karachi.

Mr. Khan has over 12 years’ experience in the travel industry. He began his career with South African Airways from where he moved to America Airline and served as their Regional Manager for the Middle East and Pakistan for eight years. He moved to Etihad Airways in 2009 as Country Manager in Pakistan to oversee operations in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. His career also includes periods working in the automotive and fast moving consumer goods industries.

AirBerlin and Etihad Airways Inaugurate Direct Berlin-Abu Dhabi Services

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, in conjunction with AirBerlin, Europe’s sixth biggest carrier, has begun direct services from Berlin to Abu Dhabi with the first flight to the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) arriving this morning.

The inaugural flight was greeted by a traditional water canon salute. Using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, AirBerlin will operate four flights a week between the two capital cities.

Welcoming the flight to Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways President and Chief Executive Officer, James Hogan said: “This flight marks a key milestone in our new partnership with AirBerlin. We are delighted, through this partnership, to link the capital cities of Germany with the UAE. We look forward to strengthening our ties with AirBerlin, to explore opportunities for bringing the benefits of our partnership to our customers.”

Addressing guests at Berlin Tegal airport prior to boarding inaugural flight AB7494, AirBerlin Chief Executive Officer Hartmut Mehdorn said: “This strategic partnership with Etihad Airways not only opens up unique opportunities for the future of AirBerlin, it also brings a number of benefits for passengers in terms of access to new routes, including our new all-year-round direct services to Abu Dhabi.

Etihad Airways Named World’s Leading Airline at World Travel Award

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has enjoyed stunning success at the World Travel Awards, taking the top honour for the third year in a row.

It was named the World’s Leading Airline last night at a black-tie gala event in Doha, Qatar. The judges also presented Etihad Airways with awards for the World’s Leading First Class and World’s Leading Airline to the Middle East.

These three awards cap an extraordinary 12 months for the airline. Highlights included the launch of seven new international routes, a move into operating profitability and the purchase of a 29.2 percent stake in AirBerlin, a landmark deal that enables access to 33 million new passengers in Europe.

The World Travel Awards – described as the “Oscars of the travel industry” by the Wall Street Journal – recognise the best airline, hospitality and tourism brands in the world. Judges look for excellence in categories such as customer relations, creativity, and quality of service, product innovation and business acumen.

Etihad Airways’ success in Doha follows recognition at the World Travel Awards Middle East in May, when the airline took home awards for Middle East’s Leading Airline, Middle East’s Leading Airline First Class, Middle East’s Leading Cabin Staff and Middle East’s Leading Airline In-flight Entertainment.

SAP implements ERP solution at Continental Biscuits

SAP Pakistan provides its ERP solution to Continental Biscuits Limited (CBL) where Siemens Pakistan is the designated project implementation partner on behalf of SAP. The primary objective of the project is to fast track the implementation using SAP Standard functions. Etihad Airways Offers New Umrah Package for Pakistan

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has launched a new package for Umrah travelers, offering discounted fares and more convenient schedules for flights departing from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar.

A one-way flight to Jeddah from Karachi will now cost as low as, PKR 24,840, whereas a two-way flight will cost PKR 37,990.

Meanwhile, one-way Flights from Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar, will cost PKR 31,340 and two-way flights will cost PKR 47,990.

These fares are available immediately and are valid from January 1 till March 31, 2012 on Coral Economy, Pearl Business Class and Diamond First Class bookings

Etihad Airways Reduced Fares for Pakistani Travelers in 2012

Etihad Airways, is offering reduced fares to its destinations all around the globe valid from 22 January till 30 June, 2012.

Destinations offered include; Dubai/Abu Dhabi (PKR 30,650), Manchester (PKR 66,290), London (PKR 65,100) and New York (PKR 92,750) for all return tickets on Coral Economy Class. For Pearl Business Class return tickets, the destinations include Dubai/Abu Dhabi (PKR 65,650), Manchester (PKR 224,470), London (PKR 207,100) and New York (PKR 281,740).

These reduced rates will only be offered on bookings made from 29 December to 9 January 2012 and only a limited number of seats will be made available.
